A Hidden Gem of Eritrean and Ethiopian Cuisine
While exploring Swansea, we came across a little gem of a family-run restaurant – Red Sea Restaurant. This small and friendly eatery serves authentic Eritrean and Ethiopian dishes, offering a delightful experience for anyone eager to try East African cuisine.
A Birthday Celebration with a Cultural Twist
This visit was extra special as it was a birthday thrill, shared with friends while sampling Ethiopian cuisine and culture. The warm and welcoming atmosphere made the occasion even more enjoyable, as we explored a variety of traditional dishes.
Flavourful Dishes with Thoughtful Spice Levels
One of the highlights was the carefully spiced dishes, as the chef adjusted the heat levels to accommodate everyone’s preferences. The wat (pulse-based stews) were rich and flavourful, perfectly complemented by injera – a soft, spongy sourdough flatbread that resembles thick pancakes. The meat dishes varied in heat, depending on individual requests, ensuring that everyone could enjoy their meal to the fullest.

The Perfect Finish – Traditional Coffee Ceremony
No Ethiopian meal is complete without coffee, and our experience at the Red Sea Restaurant was no exception. Our lovely waitress demonstrated the traditional coffee-making process, starting with roasting fresh green coffee beans. The thick, black brew, served in a beautifully crafted ceramic pot, looked intense – yet to our surprise, it was incredibly smooth and delicious.

A Unique Dining Experience Worth Trying
