I first met Angela, the entrepreneur behind Nala’s, at the 4th Region Start-up Expo in Swansea on Wednesday, 5th March 2025. She spoke passionately about her journey in setting up a business dedicated to South African food. Intrigued by her story, I visited her store on the morning of Friday, 21st March 2025 and was immediately drawn to the variety of products available.

Walking through the shop, I quickly realized it was a hidden gem. The selection of South African groceries is impressive, offering everything from essential cooking ingredients to delightful treats. Here’s what you can expect to find:
Spices & Sauces – Essential for recreating traditional dishes.
Sweets & Snacks – A wonderful discovery for newcomers and a nostalgic treat for South Africans.

What makes Nala’s even more exciting is its upcoming café expansion, which will offer a budget-friendly (£4-£10) lunchtime menu. Based on the previews I’ve seen on Nala’s Facebook page, the dishes look absolutely delicious. The café will also provide a welcoming atmosphere for those looking to enjoy a relaxing meal. Without a doubt, I’ll be returning to try it out!
