The Bay View Swansea ‘Thai Restaurant’

A Welcome Escape from the Festival Crowds

During the lively Swansea Pride LGBTQ+ 2025 event at the Brangwyn Hall, my friends and I decided to take a break from the excitement. Just a short walk away, we found a perfect haven at The Bay View Swansea ‘Thai Restaurant’. Nestled along Swansea Bay, this spot offered us a relaxing atmosphere and a much-needed moment of calm.

The restaurant combines a rich local history with authentic Thai cuisine. For over 100 years, it has stood as a landmark for locals and travellers alike. With sweeping sea views and friendly service, it immediately set the tone for a pleasant meal.

Excellent Value with the Thai Lunch Special

We were pleased to discover the Thai Lunch Special, which included a main and a side for just £7.95. This was great value, especially given the generous portions and the quality of the food.

For my side dish, I chose the vegetarian spring rolls. They were golden, crisp, and served with a classic sweet chilli sauce. The texture was spot-on, and the dip added just enough sweetness and heat.

My main course was the Pad Garpow – stir-fried chicken with onions, mixed peppers, green beans, and a punchy garlic chilli paste. I appreciated the half-and-half option of boiled rice and fries, which offered both comfort and variety. The meal was full of flavour and satisfying without feeling too heavy.

A Small Downside to Note

Although the food and service impressed us, we did notice that the tables were sticky to the touch. This was disappointing, especially considering the restaurant holds a 5-star hygiene rating (last awarded in May 2022).

That said, this issue seemed like a simple oversight. A quick wipe-down between diners would easily solve it. Hopefully, management will address this so it doesn’t detract from future visits.

An Authentic Taste in a Historic Setting

What makes The Bay View special is not just the food, but also the setting. With views stretching across Swansea Bay to Mumbles Head, the restaurant offers one of the best seaside backdrops in the city. It’s also dog friendly, which adds to its charm and makes it ideal for walkers and beachgoers.

The Bay View combines comfort, affordability, and authenticity in one scenic location. The Thai menu brings something vibrant to the Swansea dining scene, especially for those craving something spicy and satisfying.

Final Thoughts of The Bay View Swansea ‘Thai Restaurant’.

The Bay View Thai Restaurant is a local favourite for good reason. With excellent lunchtime deals, a relaxed atmosphere, and friendly staff, it offers a great dining experience by the sea.

While the sticky table issue was a slight let down, it didn’t overshadow the quality of the food or the service. I look forward to returning — hopefully next time sampling the main menu whilst enjoying the view of the sunset.
