A Festive Carvery in Elegant Surroundings
A Historic Setting for Christmas Celebrations
Manor Park Country House, Clydach, Swansea is a stunning Grade II listed former stately home set within 12 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. Dating back to the 18th century, the manor provides an elegant and romantic backdrop, especially during the festive season. Moreover, it offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere that is ideal for Christmas parties and seasonal celebrations.
For the past two years, I have had the pleasure of attending a Christmas Party at the venue. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Pauline Anderson and everyone involved with Ageing Well (50 and over in Swansea), delivered by Swansea Council. These well-organised events play an important role in bringing communities together and creating memorable shared experiences.
The Christmas Carvery Experience
At the heart of the celebration was a traditional Christmas carvery, served in a relaxed and friendly setting. Guests could choose from turkey, beef, or a combination of both, with a vegetarian option also available. This year, I opted for the beef, which was wonderfully tender and truly melted in the mouth.
The carvery was accompanied by all the classic trimmings. These included crisp roast potatoes, carrots, sprouts, peas, roasted parsnips, stuffing, and rich gravy, with mint sauce available for those who enjoy an extra festive touch. Altogether, the selection felt generous, comforting, and well prepared.
A Sweet Festive Finish
Dessert was a lemon meringue served with a lemon curd drizzle. This is one of my favourite desserts, particularly after a hearty meal. The balance of sharp citrus and sweetness provided a refreshing and satisfying end to the lunch.
A Meal Everyone Enjoyed
There were no complaints at our table. Everyone appreciated the traditional Christmas dinner, choosing their own preferred combinations and enjoying the variety of classic desserts on offer. I include myself here, happily guilty of indulging in the traditional festive pleasures that Manor Park Country House, Clydach, Swansea does so well.
