Charity Night in Support of Sadie’s Butterflies
Located in the heart of Swansea, directly opposite the city’s iconic Grand Theatre, Panshee Contemporary Indian Restaurant Swansea recently hosted a vibrant summer charity night. The event supported Sadie’s Butterflies, a local LGBTQ+ social and support group. As part of the initiative, 50% of the proceeds were donated back to the organisation, helping fund their valuable work.

From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt warm, welcoming, and community-focused. It struck a lovely balance between supporting a great cause and enjoying a night of authentic Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine.
The charity menu offered a modest but thoughtful selection. Guests could choose two courses from a starter, main course, or sundry, for just £14 (cash paid to Donna on the night). Drinks and extras were purchased separately, which kept the meal affordable.

To begin, I ordered poppadoms with a yogurt mint dip and lime chutney. This simple combination is always a personal favourite. I paired it with a refreshing Kingfisher premium lager, ideal for a warm summer evening.
As a starter, I selected Chicken Tikka. The diced chicken was marinated in yogurt, tamarind, garlic, ginger, lemon juice, and tandoori spices. It arrived well-cooked, with aromatic flavours that made a great impression.
For my main course, I chose a classic Bhuna. This featured finely sliced onions and capsicum in a rich, medium-spiced sauce. It was served with fragrant Pila Rice, lightly flavoured with saffron. The combination was satisfying and well-balanced.

Overall, the food was enjoyable. Although the charity menu was simplified, it still offered lovely flavour notes. I’d love to return on a regular evening to explore the full menu at Panshee Contemporary Indian Restaurant Swansea.
Supporting Sadie’s Butterflies
More importantly, the evening served a powerful purpose. Sadie’s Butterflies, led by Donna Curnock King, is a non-profit LGBTQ+ group. They work to create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for vulnerable individuals across the community.
Fundraising events like this go beyond dinner and drinks. They provide much-needed visibility, connection, and support—especially for those facing discrimination, hardship, or isolation. In short, every pound raised helps make a real difference.
